Responsible to:     Friendly Visitor Coordinator

Description:                    

Friendly Visitor Volunteers will provide companionship to persons over the age of 60 living independently with very little social interaction.  Number of hours will vary depending on the needs and schedules of those involved.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  To provide companionship to homebound elderly by visiting in the home to reduce lonliness and improve quality of life.

2.  Additional Activities may include (at the discretion of the volunteer):

     a.  Shopping

     b.  Letter reading & writing

     c.  Telephone Reassurance

     d.  Activities & crafts

     e.  Light lawn care

     f.   Light home repairs

     g.  Respite care for families

Qualifications:

1.     Desire to develop relationship with others.

2.         Transportation to and from participants home.

3.         Interest in helping frail elderly.
