RSVP volunteer recognized

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer William Bornhuetter was the recipient of this year’s Gold Community Service Award presented by Kenosha Area Disabilities Service Group. The award is given in recognition of volunteer activities and enhancement of public understanding and awareness on behalf of persons with disabilities. Bornhuetter passed the 50,000 mile mark driving veterans to medical appointments in Milwaukee for the Disabled American Veterans Transportation Network, and has volunteered more than 9,000 hours over the past 15 years with RSVP. He has volunteered for Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services’ Meals on Wheels and Volunteer Escort Programs, has driven for the Shalom Center and the INNS program, and has run fund-raising bingos for both RSVP and the Senior Action Council for many years.
