An inspirational volunteer

Bill Bornhuetter, a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer, was awarded the Senior Achievement Award for outstanding service in Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups District 2B at the Senior Achievement awards banquet. Awards are given to inspirational older people who take an active role in their communities and enhance the lives of others. Bill celebrated his 14th year of volunteer service with RSVP this year, having served 7,621 hours to date. He has driven more than 50,000 miles for the DAV Transportation Network, taking veterans to appointments at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Milwaukee. He has driven seniors to appointments through the Volunteer Escort program, delivered for Meals on Wheels, and has driven for the INNS program. Since 2003, Bill has operated bingo at Moose Lodge to help raise money for RSVP. In 2004, he was named the Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services Volunteer of the Year.
