Family Support provides home visitation to families, focusing on strengthening the parent-child relationship and engaging families as partners in the process of nurturing their children.
Information on child development, non-physical methods of discipline and community resources are provided. Parental Resilience and the need for healthy social connections are taught.
Using the Protective Factors Framework developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy, parents are able to improve skills supporting the growth and development of both the child and the parent. Parents learn the importance of:
- Social and emotional competence of children
- Knowledge of parenting and child development
- Social connections
- Parental resilience
- Concrete support in times of need
