A Heartfelt Thank You: March for Meals #EndTheWait Campaign

Kenosha County witnessed the power of community during the March for Meals #EndTheWait Campaign, an initiative led by Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services, Inc. (KAFASI) to support senior nutrition across the county. As part of this nationwide movement to strengthen the Meals on Wheels network, KAFASI proudly served 101,864 meals to local seniors last year.

With an aging population and demand for services increasing by 20%, the need for Meals on Wheels is greater than ever—especially for seniors living on fixed incomes and facing rising living costs. In Kenosha County, 84% of Meals on Wheels recipients live below the poverty line.

Community Leaders Take Action

The campaign, which ran from March 17–21, was strengthened by the participation of local dignitaries and community leaders, all of whom dedicated time to deliver meals and raise awareness:

  • Senator Bob Wirch
  • State Assemblyman Tip McGuire
  • Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman
  • Kenosha County Supervisor John Poole
  • City of Kenosha Mayor David Bogdala
  • City of Kenosha Adminstrator John Morrissey
  • Paddock Lake Village Board Trustee Ron Statz

Their involvement highlighted the urgent need to support senior nutrition programs in Kenosha County.

Why This Work Matters

One recipient’s words perfectly capture the impact of this campaign: “Without Meals on Wheels, my home would no longer be my sanctuary.”

KAFASI’s Executive Director, Ron Tatum, emphasized the urgent need for continued support: “This campaign has shown what’s possible when a community rallies around its most vulnerable members. But the reality is, without sustainable funding and ongoing support, too many seniors in Kenosha County will be left without the meals and companionship they rely on. We must act now to ensure that no senior is forced to choose between food and other basic needs. Your support isn’t just appreciated—it’s essential to keeping this lifeline intact.”

How You Can Help

As we continue our mission, your support remains essential. Whether through volunteering or donating, you can make a direct impact on the lives of Kenosha’s seniors.

Donate:

  • $11.65 provides a meal and a caring visit for one senior.
  • $58.25 ensures a senior is fed for a week.
  • $233 keeps meals coming for a full month.

Together, we can #EndTheWait and ensure that no senior in Kenosha County faces hunger alone. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to this cause.
