Family Support

Strengthening Family Relationships

Description

Our caring, knowledgeable Family Support staff help families become stronger and more resilient. Through home visits, they help parents focus on the powerful strengths of the parent-child relationship and engage families as partners in nurturing their children.

Benefits

Families are presented with information on child development, learning to understand and address each precious stage of a child’s life. Parents learn positive, strength based methods of discipline and setting appropriate parent/child boundaries. Parents learn resilience and the whole family begins creating healthy social connection.

Parents learn new skills and improve those they have supporting the growth and development of their relationship with their child. Our Family Support Program uses the Protective Factor Framework, developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy. Through this framework, parents learn the importance of the social and emotional competence of children, knowledge of parenting and child development, social connections, parental resilience, and concrete support in times of need.
