A Heartfelt Thank You: March for Meals #EndTheWait Campaign

Kenosha County came together in a powerful way during the March for Meals #EndTheWait Campaign, held March 23–27, 2026. Led by Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services, Inc. (KAFASI), this week was more than a series of events. It was a reminder of what’s possible when a community rallies around its seniors.

As part of the national Meals on Wheels movement, KAFASI continues to meet a growing and urgent need. In the past year alone, 91,527 meals were delivered to local seniors, many of whom rely on this service not just for nutrition, but for connection and care.

And the need is rising:

  • Demand for Meals on Wheels has increased by 25% over the past year
  • 84% of clients live below the poverty line
  • More seniors than ever are facing isolation and financial hardship

Community Leaders Step Up

Throughout the week, local leaders didn’t just lend their names. They showed up, rode along, and delivered meals directly to residents:

  • Monday: Mayor David Bogdala
  • Tuesday: County Executive Samantha Kerkman
  • Wednesday: Police Chief Patrick Patton
  • Thursday: Sheriff David Zoerner
  • Friday: State Representative Tip McGuire

Their participation helped shine a spotlight on the critical importance of senior nutrition programs and the people behind them.

Generosity That Fueled the Mission

Throughout the week, local leaders didn’t just lend their names. They showed up, rode along, and delivered meals directly to residents:

  • Waterfront Warehouse provided a generous spread and joined a ride-along
  • DeRango’s Restaurant and Sports Bar donated hearty comfort meals
  • Culinary Infusion & Event energized the week with a taco bar
  • Morelli’s Deli offered convenient and satisfying lunches
  • Oliver’s Bakery sweetened every day with fresh doughnuts
  • Starbucks on 75th St and 39th Ave provided coffee every day
  • Benders North, the Blue Goose, Bassett Creek Saloon & Eatery, and volunteers made sure our day at Westosha was full of great food
  • Kwik Trip kept everyone hydrated and fueled throughout the week

Their contributions went beyond food. They created moments of care, community, and shared purpose.

Why This Work Matters

The true impact of Meals on Wheels is best captured in the words of one recipient: “Without Meals on Wheels, my home would no longer be my sanctuary.”

That sentiment reflects what this program truly provides. It is not just meals. It is dignity, independence, and human connection.

KAFASI Executive Director Shebaniah Judah put it simply: “This campaign has shown what’s possible when a community rallies around its most vulnerable members. Your support isn’t just appreciated, it’s essential to keeping this lifeline intact.”

The Work Continues

With an aging population and rising costs, the need for support is not slowing down. It is growing. You can be part of the solution:

Donate:

  • $11.83 provides a meal and a caring visit
  • $59.15 feeds a senior for a week
  • $236.60 ensures meals for an entire month

Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading awareness, every action helps ensure no senior is left waiting. Thank you to everyone who stepped up, showed up, and made a difference. Together, we are ending the wait. Together, we can #EndTheWait and ensure that no senior in Kenosha County faces hunger alone. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to this cause.
